The Burnout Epidemic

Jennifer Moss’s The Burnout Epidemic is the first book in recent memory that I’ve refused to finish.

I picked this up for free in a trash box at the retirement home where I used to work, and it sat on my shelf for over a year before I cracked it. There’s just too much dubious, selective research for me to take this seriously.

There were obvious good points in the opening chapter—don’t overwork, make sure to dole out appropriate rewards and praise— but once she started laying down the social justice bait, I was out. If anything, this title is a strong case for cultivating selective reading habits.

You can find my copy in the local Rotary Club donation bin.
