Memory of:
sun through cracks
a dirty sky
oil-slicked puddle
technicolor sworls
ripples in a breeze.
Yellow gumboots, slicker
befitting child of a seaman
crouch over this wonder.
But no:
this is imagined while
gazing through
a rain-streaked window
slippery vinyl bench
of my mother’s Ranchero.
Too young to apprehend the beauty;
too early to give it voice.
