I’m an avid Kill Tony watcher. Going back to 1988 to watch a film about the brashest comedians of that time was painful. Seeing a young Chris Rock rant about race, a young Tim Allen grunt, and a handful of other “rude dudes” wasn’t the way I’d hoped to start my Sunday.
I ended up fast-forwarding through most of them, just to watch Bill Hicks’s bit. It was good, though I’d seen it before. All in all, the only reason the sets in Comedy’s Dirtiest Dozen were considered edgy was due to how draconian the public broadcasting regulations were and still are.
Thank the LORD for the Internet and YouTube, eh?
