I tolerate Joe Rogan’s comedy. I wouldn’t put him in my top ten comedians list, if someone forced me at gunpoint to rank them, but I can say that he’s got a good sense of timing and knows when to pull a goofy face for the audience.
The material here only cooks when Rogan mentions the things that have got him in the most trouble over the past few years: the n-word compilation and his opinions on COVID-19. Ironically, these were the bits that bombed the hardest out of his set, and I think that’s because the audience knew he was trying to pull a mea culpa.
Kudos to Joe for running a live comedy special. Modern comedy shows are a tightrope walk at the best of times, and he executed this with enviable grace—assuming you’re able to ignore the underboob sweat lakes that form in the poorly chosen yellow blouse.
