Distrotime

I don’t know Squarepusher well. I know that he’s as old as I am, and that his brand of electronica fuses jazz with drum ’n’ bass/jungle.

This album’s almost a year old now, and I wasn’t expecting it to be so loaded with forlorn, melodic guitar. There are plenty of the signature dark and gloopy arpeggios, but with the soft opening and closing of the 12-track collection I can’t help but feel like this is the work of someone who’s Squarepushing fifty.
