With POETRY JUNE 2025 I’m caught up with modern poetry. I lagged behind when I undertook the great “let’s read all the major religious texts aloud” project of 2023-2025, as I’d formerly read poetry on the can instead of the words of gods.
I’m unimpressed with what passes for the beautiful use of words in 2025 and remain dedicated to pursuing the old masters. People who said things I can still relate to. None of this is to say that modern poetry is bad. I’m unqualified to make that distinction. It’s just not for me, is all.
I wonder how much longer this subscription is going to keep depositing fresh hell in my mailbox.
