DARKADE

BETTER GRAPHICS COMING SOON

The Darkade, or Dark Acre Arcade, [was] a “personal game jam” project where the parameters [were]:

Below are the current “winners”, in order of recency. Please enjoy and feel free to give any and all feedback, criticisms, comments. Bear in mind the constraints and that these projects are more for stress relief from the prime project(s) and less about providing a 5-star gaming experience.

(This was by far the most useful exercise I did as an independent game developer. I recovered the builds from a Dropbox that survived the Dark Acre Purge of 2015, and someday I’ll record video of them. –Ed.)

*Dark Acre Fisher broke all of the rules because it got way out of hand, fast. Victim of overscope and then past the point of “oh this is just garbage I’ll vomit out on the Internet” into “I should probably make this look somewhat professional”. Fortunately, it also served as an excellent warm-up and exercise for the Ludum Dare 48 #22.

TRAINWRECKS

These are super throwaway throwaways, done without any real plan, goal, and a hard 2-hour time limit.

MINIS

These are projects that started out of random inspiration. Mostly demonstrating basic gameplay elements or some mechanical systems.

(In the original post I wrote, “Coming as soon as I organize the posts” and, years later, I have no idea what this meant. If said posts exist, I’ll update this section accordingly. –Ed.)
